Fjällräven Skule 28 review

I was just about to ask ChatGPT to write me a review on the Skule 28 backpack, turns out that it just doesn’t get it.

- So why in the world would you need this backpack anyway?

Well, there’s a couple of reasons. First off i’d say that it has the perfect balance between pockets and overall room for everyday usage. If your’e going to school or work you bring many different size items, from a laptop to chargers, keys and headphones and extra cables, not to mention water bottles or a lunch box, all of it fits perfectly in the backpack and there’s a pocket for everything.

Next up you have your overnight trips or weekend getaways, again room for everything you need and an outer compartment for used clothes.

If we take a deep dive into details you’ll see reflective parts on the shoulder straps as well as in the bottom of the rear and the back of the pack. furthermore we have bungycord on the back if you want to carry a wet towel or remove a layer when walking. You got adjustable and removable chest strap and hip belt. Hands down the best feature or detail if you will is the small zippered pocket on top of the pack, perfect for things that you want to have access to fast and use frequently such as keys or AirPods. There’s also a small clip to connect your keys insid the top pocket.

Going inside the outer compartment you’ll find another zippered pocket, slightly bigger, along with two mesh pockets, perfect for cables and EDC stuff.

To the grand finale, the main compartment, obviously you’ll put most of your stuff here, but because you have the pockets and the outer compartment your’e able to organize and sort everything you have with you. Inside the main compartment you’ll also find the laptop pocket.

This is pretty much it to the untrained eye, you have the top handle and side pockets for bottles and what not. It could have been over with there. The more subtile details and the features that really makes this bag stick out is the small hole in the top corner of the bag, not visible unless you know what to look for, and just like that we have a whole for our hydration system and then the prevention laptop pocket now doubles as a hydration system pocket, along with the small clip inside the top of the backpack to connect the hydration system… so now you have two compartments, small pockets for miscellaneous items, room for bottles on the side, a hip belt and chest strap. padded shoulder straps and backpanel… is this now a day hike pack as well?!

Turns out that it is! All in all you pretty much got a work/school pack and a sleeper day hike backpack, it’s awesome for travel, airplane proof (tested by yours truly).

Review of the Skule 28 backpack

i’ve used this backpack now for a couple of months and I tried hard to find something constructive to say about it, but they nailed it. solid home run. not too big, not too small. Perfectly balanced with features and pockets. I couldn’t find myself in a place or situation where the Skule 28 was lacking.

The material is durable and hardwearing, might not be as waterproof as the bergtagen roll-top that I dipped in the harbor with my laptop (the laptop survived unfortunately), but then again I won’t go swimming with this backpack, it can handle a bit of rain and its easy to get to everything plus that it sits comfortably on your back and shoulders for long time.

If you’re biking to school or work in heavy rain and you have a long way to and from, first off I’m sorry for you, this is a great way to build character and something to look back at when you’ve made it. Second i’d probably still use this backpack but I might add a rain cover, I found that I open and close the zippers more than I use it in heavy rain so therefore I’m not too concerned with the backpack not being 100% waterproof.

Thanks for reading along, hope you enjoyed this and that you got something from it, if not you can watch the full review on my channel and see if you get more from that! ;)
